Dominic Noel, Executive Director & Nurse Practitioner Lead
Dominic joined the Algoma NPLC team in May 2017. He is originally from Montreal, Quebec where he earned his Bachelor’s in Nursing Science, Master’s in Nursing Science and his Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Diploma. Dominic is a strong believer in health promotion and disease prevention as powerful means to enhance the quality of life of our community members. Dominic and his family have developed a deep appreciation for the Northern Ontario way of life and he is excited about continuing to serve this community.
Jessica Oldham, NP
Jessica has been a Nurse Practitioner for 6 years, earning her Nurse Practitioner certificate from Lakehead University, after complete her Master’s Degree through Laurentian University. As an RN she was fortunate enough to work at the Elliot Lake Family Health Team, where her love of Primary Care was ignited. As a nurse practitioner, she has had wonderful mentors and her collaborative connections to the interdisciplinary professionals in the community improve the care she is able to provide for her clients. Jessica looks forward to working with her clients to positively impact their health and wellbeing.
Debora Osei-Owusu, NP
Debora recently graduated with a Master’s of Science in Nursing and a Nurse Practitioner Diploma from the University of Ottawa. With over 6 years as an RN, Debora worked on a busy acute care medical unit at the Ottawa Hospital caring for individuals with various chronic illness. Her passion to became a NP stemmed from volunteering at a local community Health Center back in Ottawa where she had the opportunity to work alongside other NP’s. As a newly licensed NP graduate , She seeks to work collaboratively with patients, families and the clinic’s multidisciplinary team to improve health outcomes for residents of Sault Ste Marie .
When not in the clinic, Debora loves to spend time with family, shop or watch movies.
Monika Wagner, NP
Monika has recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Nurse Practitioner certificate and Masters’s in Nursing. She has four years of RN experience and enjoys forming partnerships with clients and communities to help them achieve their health goals. Her passion for disease prevention, healthy lifestyle, and taking a bio-psycho-social approach to care drove her to become a nurse practitioner. She especially enjoys working with infants and children. She is also a strong advocate for inclusivity and respecting diversity and keeps this at the core of her health care philosophy. As a new NP, she is excited to work at the Algoma NPLC and aims to provide care that is client-centered, holistic, and high quality.

Alaina Harten, RN
Alaina has been a registered nurse for over 10 years and has worked in a variety of health care settings, including: medical-surgical, long term care, public health, and primary care. Since starting at the Algoma NP Led Clinic in 2011 (when its doors first opened), she has earned certifications in smoking cessation, diabetes education, chronic disease self-management, and diabetic foot care. Her dedication to patient centered care is demonstrated through various clinic programs such as healthy living/weight promotion, smoking cessation, blood pressure and diabetes management. In her personal time, she is kept busy taking care of two amazing children, husband, and very vocal beagle.
Velvet Redmond-Harten, RPN
Velvet has been a Registered Practical Nurse with the Algoma NPLC since its opening day in 2011. She has over 30 years’ experience in her field.
Kristine Smith, RPN
Kristine has served the community for several years practicing the role as a Registered Practical Nurse within Cardiology. As a new member of the Algoma NPLC, Kristine is enjoying her transition into Family Practice as nurse and is excited to apply her knowledge and skills within her role, and building new nurse-patient relationships. She is passionate about providing quality care to patients of all ages. In her personal time, she enjoys spending quality family time with her husband and two children exploring the outdoors.
Sara DeSimon, Registered Social Worker
Sara graduated with Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 2013. Since then she has been a registered member of the OCSWSSW, working primarily with individuals with both mental and physical disabilities in case management, navigation and counselling capacities. Her experience comes from placement, volunteer and employment roles at SAH, ARCH, OW, MODC and of course, here at the Algoma NPLC.
In her off time she loves being with her family, spending summer weekends at camp, playing slo-pitch and cooking, baking and reading when she can.

Ashley Gearing, Administrative Assistant (On Leave)
Ashley has been with the clinic for over 5 years. She started out as the Medical Receptionist and is now the Administrative Assistant. She has been working in the medical field for 10 years. She is very passionate about customer services and loves to help out in any way she can. When Ashley is not at the Clinic she can be found cross country skiing at Hiawatha, downhill skiing at Searchmont or riding her bike along the Sault Ste. Marie Hub Trail.
Rebecca Reed, Medical Receptionist
Rebecca relocated from the Niagara Region to Sault Ste. Marie in the fall of 2018. She graduated from the Office Administration – Medical Program at Niagara College in 2014 and has been working in the medical field since then. During her time off she enjoys spending time with her spouse and 2 dogs, and exploring the beautiful outdoors in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding areas.
Alana D’Angelo, Office/HR Administrator
Alana was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Algoma University and a Master of Industrial Relations degree from Queen’s University. Alana has worked in the healthcare field for many years and is passionate about helping the community access quality primary care. New to the team, she is excited to use her skills to foster growth and development at the Algoma NPLC. When Alana is not at the clinic, she enjoys playing sports, travelling and exploring the great outdoors.
