Dominic Noel

Executive Director & Nurse Practitioner Lead

He earned his Bachelor’s in Nursing Science in 2006 and his Master’s in Nursing Science in 2014. Dominic spent over 5 years at the Montreal Jewish General Hospital working as an Endocrinology/Insulin Pump Trainer and in the Cardiovascular Care, Medical & Post-Op areas. Dominic is a strong believer in health promotion and disease prevention as powerful means to enhance the quality of life of our community members. Dominic and his family moved to Sault Ste. Marie from Montreal in 2017. They have developed a deep appreciation for the Northern Ontario way of life and he is excited about continuing to serve this community. Dominic joined the Algoma NPLC team in May 2017.

 

Velvet Redmond-Harten

Registered Practical Nurse

Velvet has over 38 years of experience being a Registered Practical Nurse. She worked at The Group Health Centre, The General Hospital and at Pathways Retirement Home. She has additional expertise in Skin Health & Wound Management as well as Diabetes. She is also a Head Usher at GFL Memorial Gardens. Velvet also volunteered on several school councils and is involved with the Canadian Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She is a volunteer Board Member with the local Crime Stoppers program. Velvet has been with the Algoma NPLC since its opening day in 2011.

 

Sara Rocchetta (On Leave)

Nurse Practitioner

Sara received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa in 2010 and continued on to the University of Toronto where she received her Master’s in Nursing and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Diploma in 2016. Prior to commencing her career here at the ANPLC, Sara worked at The Ottawa Hospital and Mount Sinai in Toronto as a registered nurse specializing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She also worked as a Clinical Instructor for Algonquin College, The University of Ottawa, and Sault College. Sara joined the team in May 2017.

 

Caitlin McCullough

Nurse Practitioner

Caitlin began her education earning her Bachelor of Nursing at Queen’s University in 2009. She completed her Master’s of Nursing at Ryerson University in 2014. Her career as a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner included working at Sunnybrook Hospital and Humber River Family Health Team. She also worked as a Sub-Investigator at Inflamax Research. Caitlin began her career with Algoma NPLC in September 2017.

 

Debora Osei-Owusu

Nurse Practitioner

Debora recently graduated with a Master’s of Science in Nursing and a Nurse Practitioner Diploma from the University of Ottawa. With over 6 years as an RN, Debora worked on a busy acute care medical unit at the Ottawa Hospital caring for individuals with various chronic illness. Her passion to become a NP stemmed from volunteering at a local community Health Center back in Ottawa where she had the opportunity to work alongside other NP’s. As a newly licensed NP graduate, she seeks to work collaboratively with patients, families and the clinic’s multidisciplinary team to improve health outcomes for residents of Sault Ste Marie. Deborah returned to the Algoma NPLC team in 2021 to cover a maternity leave and is now a permanent member of our team.

 

Juli Briglio

Nurse Practitioner

Juli graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1999 from Laurentian University, and has over 34 years of health care related experience She received her Master of Science in Nursing in 2016, when she graduated the NP program was not masters prepared). She is passionate about Women’s Health and worked at the Group Health Centre in Family Practice early in her career and Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the last 24 years, until she retired in 2021. She also has a special interest in Dermatology working along side our visiting dermatologist Dr. Sibbald since 2016. She is eager to work with patients as they navigate their health and wellness journey. Juli joined the clinic in January 2022.

Kristine Smith

Registered Practical Nurse

Kristine began her career as a Personal Support Worker. She completed her education as a Registered Practical Nurse in 2009. She has worked with all ages in the community. Kristine has served the community for several years practicing the role as a Registered Practical Nurse within Cardiology. Kristine joined the team in August 2019.

 

Sara DeSimon

Registered Social Worker

Sara graduated with Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 2013. Since then, she has been a registered member of The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers (OCSWSSW), working primarily with individuals with both mental and physical disabilities in case management, navigation, and counselling capacities. She recently completed training for both levels of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy through Sick Kids Centre for Community Mental Health. Sara began working at the clinic April 2019.

 

Emily Trainor

Pharmacist

Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Laurentian University in 2015 prior to earning her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2019. Emily joined the Algoma NPLC team in 2021 and she is looking forward to working collaboratively with the team to provide optimal patient care and meet the medication needs of our patients.

 

Ashley Gearing

Office/HR Administrator

She started out as the Medical Receptionist and is now the Office/HR Administrator. Ashley is also working towards a Business Administration degree. She has been working in the health care field for over 14 years. She is very passionate about customer service and loves to help in any way she can. In her spare time, Ashley like camping, biking, skiing and spending time with her family and friends. Ashley has been with the clinic since 2014.

 

Catherine Cartmill

Administrative Assistant

Catherine is born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. She graduated from Sault College in the Office Administrator Program and is excited to be working in the medical field.  Catherine thrives when working with others, and will lend a helping hand whenever she can. As a new employee in the medical field, Catherine is excited to help support a team that can support our community. When she’s not at the clinic, you can find her watching the Toronto Raptors, camping at the nearest Provincial Park, or catching up on the latest Marvel movies. Catherine joined the clinic August 2021.

 

Shannon Therrien

Medical Receptionist

Shannon earned her BA in Law and Psychology from Algoma University in 2007, and her b. Ed from Lakehead University in 2008. Since then, she worked as an Occasional teacher with the Algoma District School Board, and as a co-ordinator at Wecare Home Health. Since 2014, Shannon has worked in several roles at Sault Area Hospital. In her free time, Shannon enjoys spending time with family and friends and her dog Stella, reading, or taking photos. Shannon joined the clinic September 2022 and is very excited to be part of a new team working to provide excellent customer service.
